The McLaren team has achieved great results over the first half of the current campaign. Both drivers, Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, also talked about the season ahead of the summer break at the McLaren Technology Centre. The Woking-based side was the team to beat over the first half of the season. Other than Max Verstappen winning twice and George Russell's victory in Montreal, it was either Norris or Piastri who could step on top of the podium.
The drivers shared heartfelt messages at the McLaren Technology Centre during a team debrief ahead of the summer break, the team shared on social media.
As team principal Andrea Stella wanted to hand the microphone to one of the drivers, neither wanted to take it first. The Italian team principal joked: "It's the first time that they want to let the other one pass."
Piastri and Norris deliver messages to the team
"It's pretty remarkable, and again, thank you very much for all your hard work. It's been down to every single one of you," Piastri began.
"We're the lucky two that get to drive the end product on track, and let me tell you, winning races and fighting for wins, as much as it's stressful at times, I'm sure, and stressful for you guys watching, probably, it's a hell of a lot of fun. And I'm hoping we can continue this for the rest of the year, but for many, many years to come."
Then, it was Norris' turn. "It's an amazing feeling that we get to represent all of you, such an amazing and incredible team. So yes, just a big thanks, and let's do it all again after the summer break."
The season is set to continue with the Dutch GP during the end of August. Currently, it is the Australian driver who leads in the standings, nine points ahead of his teammate, Norris.
