Ferrari is working hard to get Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz a new engine as soon as possible. The Grands Prix of the Netherlands and Italy came too early, but the expectation is that the Italian team will be able to make it through October.
The race team decided at the start of the season not to implement the improved specifications yet, but to wait until halfway through the season. In the meantime, however, the Italians are far enough along to think about when the team will put the new engine in the cars.
Mattia Binotto expects this to be soon, he says in conversation with La Gazzetta dello Sport. "It will come soon. It's in our interest that it happens as soon as possible because we will need it in the work we do for next year," said the Ferrari team boss. It is likely that the engine change will take place in Turkey or the United States.

Grid penalties for Ferrari

The new engine does result in a grid penalty for Ferrari, as Leclerc and Sainz both used the maximum number of engine parts already. However, it gives Ferrari the opportunity to continue development for next season.
