Ferrari have done everything possible to make the SF-24 look as strong as possible in the new F1 season. The engine, too, has been put through its paces again, despite the restrictions set by the FIA.
F1 engines may not be touched by manufacturers since 2022. Only reliability issues are allowed to be addressed. The rest of development is frozen until the entry of the new engine regulations in 2026. Still, there are always things the manufacturer can take care of.

What Ferrari can still improve on the engine

"Despite engine development being frozen, that doesn't mean there aren't interesting challenges. We are doing more races than ever in a championship this year and that means we have to react faster than ever. To prepare for this, we have gone through all the processes around the engine to achieve maximum performance," said Enrico Gualtieri, the technical director of Ferrari's engine department.
"Furthermore, we worked with our partners on the procedures to improve reliability. On the track, with the help of Shell, we can now better monitor the state of the engine," concluded Gualtieri.
