This weekend sees the Mexican Grand Prix, but there is a chance there will be a second race in Mexico from 2025. At least, that is what Antonio Perez tells Publimetro.com. According to the father of Formula 1 driver Sergio Perez, the FIA and Formula 1 have already given permission for the project.
'Should happen in 2024'
As recently as April, Perez Sr. told us that the project for a second Mexican Grand Prix had been underway for three years. However, action will have to be taken soon if the plan is to go ahead, the Mexican now says: "The only person I have spoken to about this is Claudia Sheinbaum [former Mexico City government chief]. If a new person arrives, I will talk to them about it. But it must happen in 2024, because it must be done from 2025 to 2030, because they are five years. It would give us a year to get it ready. The first stage is already underway"
Permission from FIA and F1
In fact, if the father of Max Verstappen's teammate is to be believed, very important steps have already been taken for the Grand Prix to go ahead: "We have the land, the money, the investment and the OK from the FIA and F1."
