It was a chaotic start to the Formula 2 sprint race. Oliver Goethe and Zak O'Sullivan collided, causing a big crash. 'What the f*ck. I've been hit,' the Danish-German driver shouted over the team radio. It immediately caused a yellow flag and the safety car on the track at Monza during the F2 sprint race.

Andrea Kimi Antonelli did not come out of the battle unscathed either. The Italian's tyre was shattered, so the Mercedes protégé had to come in to put a new tyre on the car. It did cost the 18-year-old a lot of time, and so he had to rejoin at the very back of the field during the safety car.
Later, it also became clear that O'Sullivan had made a false start during the sprint race. Extra unfortunate for Goethe, as 19-year-old O'Sullivan was the reason for Goethe's crash. The race was restarted by with Pepe Marti leading the pack on Lap 4.
