Brundle wants to remove game changing rule: Caused 'drivers to lose skill'

Sky Sports analyst and pundit Martin Brundle would remove blue flags from Formula One. The former driver believes that because of the current rule, drivers have now lost out on having an important skill in racing.
In Sky Sports' AMA on Reddit, the former Benetton and McLaren driver believes if he could change rules himself, he would opt for 'banning' blue flags. "I think drivers have lost the skills of working the traffic, managing the traffic as we used to have to do, I quite liked that," the Briton said.
The blue flag got a different meaning in the 1995 season, the year when Brundle scored his last podium at Spa-Francorchamps, where he finished in P3 driving a Ligier car. From that year onwards, drivers 'must yield' once they see the flag, but beforehand, that only meant that a faster car is approaching.
"And now everybody has to jump out of the way like school kids when the big boys come through in the fast cars. But the trouble is, with today's aerodynamics, you might never get past the backmarkers. So, things have changed a little bit like that, but I do think it's a skill that's been lost," Brundle continued.
However, according to the driver with nine podiums, thanks to the competition's current success, he would still opt for the 'if ain't broke, don't fix it' approach.
