Final free practice session
Unlike Friday's free practice sessions, the third free practice session is expected to be regular. On Friday, as many as five infielders came in to drive the mandatory 'rookie sessions' during FP1. The second free practice session was dominated by the
Pirelli tests. The practice lasted half an hour longer, but the drivers were obliged to drive their laps on
Pirelli's new 2023 tyres.
We are likely to see a busy session this hour, with most drivers going out and practising driving the fastest lap. Although pole position is always the best starting position for Sunday, qualifying at the Austin circuit is relatively less important than at most other tracks. There are good overtaking opportunities. For this reason, some teams are also doing an engine change for the final stage of the season and take a grid penalty here for granted. This liveblog will be completed in English.
