Liam Lawson has said that both the Red Bull and Racing Bulls have "not been super fun so far" as he still searches for his first points of the 2025 season.
Lawson drove two races in the Red Bull Racing car, the RB21, to start the season after he was chosen over Yuki Tsunoda to be Max Verstappen's teammate. However, he was demoted after those two Grand Prix weekends after severely struggling at the Austrian team.
Since then, the New Zealander has returned to the sister team, but the struggles have continued, unable to find his way into the top ten in Japan and Bahrain.

Lawson compares the two 'definately different' cars

After his P16 at the Bahrain Grand Prix, finishing eight seconds behind his teammate Isack Hadjar, Lawson was asked about his experiences in both the RB21 and the VCARB 02.

"They were both pretty tough. Not super fun so far, I'd love a good result," the 22-year-old said to various media outlets, including GPblog.
"They definitely drive differently, but they also share a lot of similarities. Yes, obviously, they're on a lot of the same platforms, so yeah, it's similar issues in places, but they do drive very differently. Obviously, a completely different aero package and trying to extract everything out of it is done in very different ways," continued Lawson.
The race pace of the Racing Bulls car has been quite solid throughout the season, but Lawson could not make the most of it at the Barain International Circuit and will be hoping for more at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
"I actually don't think we are lacking anywhere," Lawson explained when debriefing the Bahrain Grand Prix. "The speed was there all weekend. We had a DRS problem in qualifying and then just a tough race where we had to fight back, so I don't think we are really missing anything."
