Max Verstappen is now a three-time world champion fighting for his fourth title, but the Dutchman experienced tough stints himself, as in 2018, he went through a difficult period, and had to face a lot of criticism. Verstappen looked back on that challenging period on Viaplay.

Verstappen speaks out about 'headbutt' moment

In Viaplay's documentary 10 years of Verstappen, the Dutchman talked about his 2018 season. That year, the Dutchman was involved in many incidents early on during the season, with the his lowest point being a crash in FP3 at the Monaco GP. This prevented the driver from competing in qualifying at a track, where Red Bull had the car to challenge for a victory.
The following race in Canada, Verstappen was then asked at the press conference why he crashed so often. The Dutchman was not happy, and declared if someone asks him more questions about this topic, he will "headbutt someone". With 61 Grand Prix victories and three world titles under his belt, Verstappen can now look back on that moment with a smile.
"At that moment I was really pissed. At some point it's just enough. I know myself that I made mistakes then. But you shouldn't keep on whining. Because then I really almost headbutted someone," Verstappen said. Eventually, Verstappen could manage to turn it around in 2018, as he went on to win two races following the incident, one in Austria and one in Mexico.
