Experience counts after all: 'Would be a tragedy if he doesn't stay in F1'

Sergio Perez and Sebastian Vettel were two surprising names on the podium of the Turkish Grand Prix. According to Ross Brawn, this shows that experience of drivers is decisive in these circumstances.

''What we have seen today is the old guard showing their experience, where the young drivers have yet to learn something. It was fascinating to see Vettel's performance this weekend, where many people had already written him off. On Sunday he reminded us again of the talent that is in him, but he was a bit in the shadow of Charles Leclerc," says Brawn in his column for Formula1.com.

Perez also did a great job with his second place, perhaps securing his seat for 2021. ''He drove great and of course it would be a tragedy if he doesn't drive in Formula 1 next year. He has earned his place in Formula 1. If you as a team want a competitive driver to get the most out of every opportunity, Perez is your man," the technical boss of F1 praises the Mexican.
