Did Verstappen approach Mercedes? Wolff urges the Dutchman to 'make up his mind'

Regardless of the topic Max Verstappen is always a major talking point in every Grand Prix weekend. This time is about his potential move to Mercedes. Toto Wolff has revealed what the odds are that the Dutchman will make the switch from Red Bull Racing to the team led by the Austrian.
Speaking to Sky Sports Wolff described his current line-up comprised of George Russell and Andrea Kimi Antonelli as 'perfect. "I think when you look at the situation we have with Kimi and George, we have a perfect line-up that we very much enjoy and we believe is the future."
There's always a but, and this time it's big enough to forego perfect line-up
As it ever is in these cases, there's always a but. "But at the same time, there is a four-time world champion that needs to decide what he is going to do in the future and that is just as a team principal you need to see where that is going."
Wolff however, is not confident in his chances to sign Verstappen. "But I think I give it a very little probability that it's going to happen." for nxt year or beyond? The Austrian replied: "You don't know what's going to be in three or five years, that's why you need to look at what is it that should be considered on the long term."
So what then is the deadline to make up his mind on where he will drive next year? "Nothing needs in a way to come favourable for us, because with George and Kimi is what we want to be and what we want to continue. But in order to plan right for the long-term future you've got to understand what other people do," Wolff concluded.
GPblog understands however that Verstappen is set to drive for Red Bull Racing in 2026, having opted not to activate a clause in his contract that would trigger his exit from the Austrian team. Will that continue to be the case in the future? It is not yet known.
