David Coulthard predicts Dutch Grand Prix atmosphere will be "fantastic"

In May 2020, Formula 1 will make its long-awaited return to the Netherlands on the Zandvoort circuit for a Dutch Grand Prix. Former F1 driver David Coulthard believes there will be some challenges, but he's predicting a "fantastic" atmosphere.

The last Grand Prix in the Netherlands was back in 1985, 12 years before Dutch superstar Max Verstappen was born. A number of changes are going to be made to the track which are in place to produce the best racing possible. For once, Verstappen's orange army will get a home fixture and Coulthard is looking forward to the event.

"I always feel very comfortable with the Dutch. You are also open and direct. I went to the Zandvoort circuit for the first time in 1984 to attend an event. At the time I was still karting, but in 1991 I won the Marlboro Masters on the circuit. Last year I was there together with Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo for the Jumbo Racing Days," Coulthard explains to Motorsport.com.

“Due to the limited space on the circuit, the organization will face the necessary challenges, but the same applies in Monaco and it succeeds. Moreover, the atmosphere will be fantastic, I have no doubt about that. But it will not be easy for Max to move from one point to another during the weekend," Coulthard jokes.
