Cyril Abiteboul: "Two points are a pretty bad reward for the team"

Cyril Abiteboul is not happy with how his team performed during the Singapore Grand Prix. Renault scored two points through Nico Hulkenberg but looked competitive all weekend and had hoped to do better.
"After showing a reasonable pace in qualifying and racing, the two points of Nico seem to be a pretty bad reward for him and the team," Abiteboul said to Motorsport.com. "The race was full of incidents that we didn't profit from.
"Daniel's comeback after his disqualification was remarkable on a track like this, but due to contact with another car, he was back on track, proving just how important starting positions are, yet our competitive form was encouraging as this circuit is very different from Spa and Monza. A sign that this car has become better and that we don't have to write off the season yet."
Renault had made some great improvements after the summer break but will need to improve in Russia if they are going to challenge McLaren for 'best of the rest' come the end of the year.
