Criticism on Perez: 'Should have finished more often behind Verstappen'

Sergio Perez was furious with Max Verstappen after the Brazilian race on Sunday. After all, the Mexican wanted to pass his teammate in the closing stages, but Verstappen decided not to allow it and ignored Red Bull Racing's request. While Jan Lammers can understand the critical view, at the same time he thinks Perez has little right to speak.
Perez is still battling with Charles Leclerc for second place in the world championship and was eager to grab extra points. However, Verstappen's action got in the way of that. Afterwards, Perez stated that he was disappointed with his teammate as he had helped him on several occasions.
Lammers, however, sees the situation differently. " It is thanks to Perez, but also in spite of Perez," he stressed in the NOS Formule 1 podcast. "After all, he should have finished much more often behind Verstappen. Very often Leclerc was just in front. He should have just performed better himself."

Verstappen could help Red Bull

On the other hand, the former Formula 1 driver thinks there is enough to say about Verstappen's decision. Indeed, if the driver had simply complied with Red Bull's order, he could also have played an important role in the fight between Leclerc and Perez.

"He had the opportunity to have not only first place to his credit, but also second place for a part. That's an opportunity he could have chosen for. It would have been a nice present he could have given to his team."
