Coronel understands Elkann: "I think that's clever"

It's not a season to remember for Ferrari fans. The dramatic performance follows quickly, and Chairman John Elkann has already confirmed that the focus will be on 2022. Tom Coronel thinks that's a wise decision.
"At least they're realistic now, I think that's clever. Admitting your mistakes, that's where it all starts. Once you admit your mistakes, you can move on," says Coronel to Motorsport.com. "I don't expect any Ferrari victories myself and I fully understand that that's how they do it. All focus on 2022, a sensible move. Until then, it's beyond repair, it just can't be done. You'd better go straight to the bottom and take the pain."

Substantial difference

Elkann does not expect any more victories this year and therefore wants to focus on the year 2022, in which rule changes are planned to bring the grid closer together to create more tension. At the moment the difference between Mercedes and the other nine teams is considerable. For example, Ferrari is fifth on the manufacturer's list, 94 points behind the unapproachable frontrunner.
