A confident Sergio Perez believes that Cadillac "are here to do great things" as they make their Formula 1 debut in 2026. "I'm pretty confident that we will be able to progress extremely quickly."

Huge challenges face every team as they battle with the regulation overhaul that comes into effect in 2026, and
Cadillac will be doing so as a start-up team in the world of
F1.
But even that daunting prospect is not knocking the confidence of Perez, who cannot wait to get things started with his new team after missing the 2025 season.

"I definitely want to go all the way with this team," the Mexican exclaimed to the
F1: Back at Base podcast.
"I want to enjoy the journey with them, and I'm pretty confident that we will be able to progress extremely quickly.
"Cadillac is here to do great things," continued the upbeat 35-year-old.
Perez 'excited' about the Cadillac 'project'
American car manufacturer General Motors saw its bid to enter the pinnacle of motorsport accepted for the 2026 season, and it will enter the sport under the
Cadillac brand.
2026 will see them use Ferrari power in their first season, but development on their own power unit continues, with the ambition of becoming a full works team by the 2029 season.
Perez will drive alongside Valtteri Bottas in
Cadillac's debut season, and the challenge of starting from scratch with an American team greatly excites the Mexican driver.

"We've been basically through the whole paddock, we've done it all, we've seen it all in the sport," continued Perez.
"I think we have a great combination of drivers. Starting with a new team, it's a different sort of challenge. Being able to be part of building a new team really excited me about this project."
Perez already impressing on track
There was plenty of excitement when Perez got back behind the wheel of an
F1 car for the first time for
Cadillac, taking part in a TPC test for the American team.
The Mexican appeared to be firing on all cylinders when he took to Imola for the test in an all-black Ferrari SF-23,
racking up valuable miles and setting some fast lap times.
In 2026, the American team will debut at winter testing in Barcelona,
where they will use a special livery. Their official livery will be revealed during halftime at the Super Bowl."
