Franco Colapinto was seen as a wonder kid of sorts when he made his F1 debut at Williams last season. In 2025 however, the Argentine talent, though, has found himself under heavy fire.
Colapinto's form was strong during the first couple of races for Williams, however, since Mexico he entered a slump marred by crashes, that he could not get out of.
Following Jack Doohan's departure from the French team the Argentine was eager to get back on the grid. At Imola, the new Alpine driver parked his car in the wall, breaking one of executive advisor to the French F1 team Flavio Briatore's requests.
Since then Colapinto has been unable to complete a solid outing for the Enstone-based outfit.
And following the British Grand Prix where he found the wall in qualifying, only to not even complete the formation lap on Sunday ahead of the race, former F1 driver Christian Danner has delivered a scathing verdict on the Argentine youngster.
Flavio Briatore, Alpine F1 team's executive advisor

'Colapinto has a huge advantage, called dollars'

"I almost liked Doohan better because he wasn't welcomed quite as warmly by the team – let's put it this way," said Danner when issuing ratings for each driver on Sport.de. "At Alpine, he went from the frying pan into the fire."
Despite that the German expert believes that no change will come at Alpine, though.
"[There's] a huge advantage on the part of Colapinto, and that's called dollars," he continued. "The many interests A chunk of money and the potential of an Argentine Grand Prix depend on him. It has nothing to do with the sport."
