Charles Leclerc admits he is excited for the tyre test taking place in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday and Wednesday. Tomorrow, he will swap his overalls for Ferrari reds as he prepares to make a running start for his new team.
Leclerc, the man from Monaco, will replace Kimi Raikkonen to join up with Sebastian Vettel as the Ferrari team attempts to close in on Mercedes again. Leclerc says it will be "very special" to do the test in red.
"It will be very special to take part in an official test on behalf of the team for the first time as a racing driver of Ferrari. It will be quite emotional," Leclerc said in an interview on GPupdate.
Today in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Leclerc will race for Sauber. He made his debut for the team this year as he quickly moves up the ranks in the winter. He describes the two cars.
"They are two different teams, and I always find it difficult to compare two cars because they have a different balance and have to be driven in a different way, but I'm certainly looking forward to trying it," added Leclerc.
