Kimi Antonelli highlighted where Mercedes needs to improve despite the German team winning every Grand Prix so far in 2026.
The Italian driver achieved his second victory of the season and career at the Japanese Grand Prix.
As a result, he currently leads the drivers' standings as well ahead of his teammate George Russell by nine points.

"For sure, maybe with the start, but I think… I mean, [in Suzuka] was completely my fault.
"But together, me and George, we’ve been struggling a bit more than what we would have anticipated since the start of the season, and the McLaren got a really good start, so they’re clearly doing something better, for sure also on driver input.

"In this case Oscar did much better than me because… I cannot say, but I ‘effed’ it up pretty badly. But yeah, I just need to keep working on that area," the championship leader concluded.

Toto Wolff agrees with Ferrari boss' Miami Grand Prix suspicion

Antonelli's team boss, Toto Wolff, is aware that the Miami Grand Prix could start a new chapter in the championship. "It could be the case. People have learned now, teams and drivers are starting to learn how to optimize the systems to their benefit. And we've seen that first indication," the Austrian said in Japan.
