Racing driver and Formula 1 analyst Alex Brundle has highlighted areas where Lewis Hamilton is 'upsetting' his Ferrari car after looking through the telemetry of his technique. Brundle stresses that Hamilton will need to coach himself 'out of a lifetime's worth of driving technique' in order to succeed with the Italian team.
The 34-year-old is the son of famed former Formula 1 driver Martin Brundle. Alex now also works in the same sport as his father, acting as an analyst and commentator. He also enjoyed a solid motor racing career, having raced in Formula 2 as well as securing a Le Mans 24 Hours podium in the LMP2 class.

"I look at the data from Lewis every weekend. The trait is the same," Brundle began on Formula 1's official podcast, F1 Nation.
"He goes into high-speed corners and hits a little bit more brake pressure than Charles Leclerc. You can draw a line directly up to the wheel-speed graph, to the steering trace, and the brake aligns perfectly with a tiny bit of movement," he continued in his analysis.

Hamilton 'upsets' the Ferrari with technique

The Brit compared Hamilton's technique to that of Charles Leclerc, who has been driving for Ferrari since 2019. "It just upsets the Ferrari everywhere. Leclerc is just Mr.Measured on the brakes. We know that Lewis had a problem with the same thing, I saw the data, at Mercedes. Can he coach himself out of a lifetime's worth of driving technique to move towards the car? We will find out," the Brit concluded.
The shockwaves that Hamilton's move to Ferrari sent through the Formula 1 world cannot be understated. The seven time world champion currently sits on 31 points after five rounds and in seventh place. Although it hasn't been that transition that Ferrari or Hamilton would've hoped for, the brit has still managed to secure his first taste of victory with Ferrari, winning in the sprint race at the Chinese Grand Prix.
