Lewis Hamilton won his seventh world title at the Turkish Grand Prix. That was not a big surprise of course, but the way he did it showed immediately why he has won so many titles. Hamilton was virtually the only driver who made no mistakes on the wet and slippy track of Istanbul Park.
Ross Brawn, who worked with Michael Schumacher when he won his seventh world title, said in his column for Formula1.com that Hamilton has reached the peak of his career. "He wins when he’s not given any opposition and he wins when he is given a big challenge. Right now, he’s at the pinnacle of his career. And I don’t know where his form will start to tail off."

Patience and tyre management products of experience

According to Brawn, the two main reasons why Hamilton was able to win were his patience and the fact that he was the only one to get the tyres working.
"Younger drivers – such as Charles and Max – made mistakes. They wouldn’t have experienced a race like this before. It was a real challenge to judge how the tyres would behave and how they would evolve, this was where experience came in. But this will be another reference point in these young drivers’ data bank. If we did another race in Turkey tomorrow, I’m sure a lot of them would approach it differently."
