In 2022, major rule changes are planned for Formula 1. All teams had to agree to the changes and that was quite a task, Ross Brawn says.
Brawn, who is reportedly stepping down as Formula 1's sporting director at the end of 2022, says resistance was encountered in the drafting of the new regulations.

Formula 1 met with resistance from teams

"When the teams first saw the regulations, there were moans and groans about the fact we had taken so much scope away from them," the 67-year-old Briton tells The New York Times. "But as they explored them, they realised there was still plenty of potential."
The new car specifications were drawn up with the intention of improving racing and making it easier for cars to follow each other, by drastically changing the way downforce is generated. In addition, Formula 1 hopes to bring the field closer together.
