Binotto not concerned with gap to Verstappen and Red Bull

Mattia Binotto says he still has plenty of reason to be positive, despite Charles Leclerc' s costly mistake at the French Grand Prix. The Ferrari team boss wants to look ahead to Hungary, where he wants to make up for the disappointment with a one-two punch.
Due to Leclerc's DNF and Carlos Sainz's late pit stop, which moved him from a potential podium spot back to P5, Ferrari managed to score just eleven points at Circuit Paul Ricard. This compares to 37 points for Red Bull Racing and 33 for Mercedes. As a result, Mercedes is starting to approach in both championships, while Red Bull seems to be disappearing on the horizon.

Binotto remains positive

Binotto, however, says he is not so worried about that. "If you would have asked me before this race what was the gap to Red Bull or Max, I couldn't answer to you because I'm not looking," he explained in conversation with F1.com. According to the team boss, the focus is simply on achieving maximum results, but that failed in France.
Binotto stresses that there is always something to improve and that the team is making progress 'step by step'. The task now, therefore, is to look ahead to Hungary, where Ferrari are expected to be highly competitive. "So I will say there is plenty of reason why we need to smile, and be positive, because our objective going in Hungary should be not for a winning, but a one-two," the Ferrari team boss said.
