Oliver Bearman will become Nico Hülkenberg's successor at Haas. From Silverstone, the US team made world news that the
Ferrari junior will drive his first proper
Formula 1 season in 2025. Bearman (19) will race number 87, in honour of his family.
"Number 87 is the number that started my career," Bearman informed the press, including GPblog at Silverstone. "My father raced with that number. I was born on May 8 and my brother on August 7, so 87 is my choice," said the Brit.
When Bearman debuted for
Ferrari at the Saudi Arabia GP as
Carlos Sainz's replacement, the Brit still used number 38.
"In Jeddah, I didn't really have a choice of number. But well, the race number was my last concern then," said a smiling Bearman. The Briton then suddenly had to fill in for Sainz who had ended up in hospital. With a handsome seventh place, Bearman then undoubtedly put himself in the spotlight of
Formula 1 teams.
