Lawson and Antonelli out in Q1 already in Melbourne

Liam Lawson, and the two teammates in F2 at Prema the previous season, Andrea Kimi Antonelli and Oliver Bearman were all eliminated in Q1 already in Melbourne.

Lawson already had issues in FP3, after which Red Bull reported that his power unit troubles were fixed, the driver made many sloppy mistakes going wide on multiple occasions and finished in P18. "I had no tyres end of lap," he declared over the team radio.

Antonelli in the Mercedes was not much more comfortable either, and got knocked out in the final moment. It was Gabriel Bortoleto who managed to jump the Italian in the final moment. The Brazilian rookie qualified for Q2, after Red Bull top advisor Helmut Marko called him a 'B-tier driver'. Mercedes confirmed to GPblog after that the Italian youngster damaged his bib on a his second run, causing him to lose performance.

Oliver Bearman could not complete a lap, after he caused a second red flag in FP3. The Briton had gearbox issues.
