Aston Martin: 'Alonso will demand a lot from us, but that's to be expected'

Mike Krack emphasises that Fernando Alonso's new contract with Aston Martin is a great compliment for the team. The team boss therefore cannot wait to work with the two-time world champion.

Krack says Alonso's contract with Aston Martin is a clear statement. The team is on the grid to win the world championship, not to make up places from the back of the grid. Lance Stroll and Sebastian Vettel are currently struggling to score points for their team.

Vettel announced at the weekend before the Hungarian Grand Prix that he will retire after 2022. It came as a surprise to many when the team announced the Monday after the race that Alonso will be part of the team from 2023 on a multi-year contract.

"We are on a journey to the front of the grid and Fernando’s decision to join us on that journey is a great compliment to our team and the work we are doing", the team boss begins on the official website of Aston Martin. The Spaniard is clearly impressed by the ambitious plans of the team and owner Lawrence Stroll.

"He will demand a lot from us, but that’s to be expected from a multiple World Champion. Fernando will be a driving force as we climb together and, like everyone in the team, I cannot wait to work with him", says Krack.
