Are there upgrades coming for McLaren? 'Nothing big, but there's something coming'

McLaren are performing even better than last year, but despite that, they have fierce competition in the battle for third place. Ferrari are back and have made great strides.
The question then is: After the upgrades in Hungary, will there be any major upgrades for McLaren towards the end of the season to secure that third spot? According to McLaren racing director Andreas Stella, there will be. He says this to Racer.com.
"They won't be the last upgrades of the season, because when you release upgrades, it takes some time to produce them and land them on the track, so there will be a few more," Stella said. "Also, in Formula 1, you always keep getting some information when you test the parts on the track, because you never get the perfect correlation with the development tools."

Adapting and upgrading based on data

Stella says, that way you can make quick adjustments and less time is lost making these upgrades.

"If you test a number of upgrades on the track, you normally get information for further fine-tuning that doesn't necessarily have to go past the wind tunnel, you can just adjust based on a number of runs in CFD for example in combination with what we learned by testing parts on the track. So the upgrade in Hungary will not be the last, there will be some more tweaks that will be tested in future races. Nothing major, but there will be a few more to come."
So there won't be any more major updates and upgrades, but there will still be work done on this year's car to capture that third spot.
