Antonelli undeterred despite early FP2 mistake, seeks sterling comeback at Monza

Coming into Monza with the hope of erasing the disappointment of Zandvoort—a weekend that ended with a misjudgment that took Charles Leclerc out of the race—Kimi Antonelli once again faced a challenging day in front of his home fans.

The Italian driver had started the weekend strongly, finishing FP1 in fifth place and hoping to replicate that performance in the afternoon.

Unfortunately, just a few minutes into the second session, Antonelli spun exiting the second Lesmo corner, getting stuck in the gravel and unable to continue.

The Mercedes driver was therefore forced to remove the steering wheel and get out of the car, losing valuable time ahead of the rest of the weekend.

Sharing his thoughts at the end of FP2, Antonelli told GPblog: ''I pushed a bit too hard for the for the grip in the moment, it was a shame.''

The Italian will have a chance to regain some of the ground lost tomorrow, aiming to secure a strong result in what promises to be his first Formula 1 qualifying at Monza.
