Alpine: 'We have too many young talents who have nowhere to go'

Executive director at Alpine, Marcin Budkowski, says the team's training program is dealing with an excess of young talent. As a result, they can't find a good spot for all drivers, let alone a Formula One seat.
Many young drivers are part of the Alpine training program, but none of the current talents have been able to move on to Formula 1 so far. Currently, there is only one seat left in the premier class of motorsport, and it remains to be seen who will be the lucky one.
The current Formula 2 championship is led by Oscar Piastri and Guanyou Zhou, both Alpine protégés. Zhou seems to be the biggest contender at the moment. However, the only available seat is at Alfa Romeo, which means Alpine would lose a valuable investment.
According to Budkowski F1i.com Alpine is a solution to this problem. "We train successful drivers until just before Formula 1 and have too many drivers who are doing well. We are doing this, on the one hand, to get them into Formula 1, but on the other hand, we are doing it for ourselves. We don't want to lose them completely, so we have to find a compromise", says Budkowski.
