Alonso's hilarious joke at party

As part of Fernando Alonso's farewell party the two time world champion made a joke which is typical of his sense of humour.

The after party of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix featured a number of top celebrities. Craig David and Sigala performed at the party and afterwards Alonso was invited up to the stage for a speech.

Alonso took to the stage to deliver his speech but half way through his microphone cut out. Alonso quickly joked that "Ok, that's just part of my career!!!"

The technical malfunction was quickly fixed and Fernando finished his speech, the last of which as a Formula 1 driver. The joke makes reference to the misfortune he has suffered throughout his career.

"It has been a pleasure racing with these champions. Thanks to everyone and to Formula 1."

Alonso said "I will always be a fan of this sport."

Many people including Martin Brundle expect to see Alonso return to Formula 1 but the champion says goodbye for now.
