- Fernando AlonsoAlonso, who spoke via the team's website during the
Azerbaijan Grand Prix weekend, expressed his confidence about the result that the Silverstone team project will yield. The two-time world champion also detailed his desire to taste title success with the British Racing Green outfit.
"I hope so. I mean, I'm pretty convinced about that. The only thing is when. That's probably my only question mark from this project.”
"In my case, driving in the last couple of years of my career, obviously, I want to taste the success of the Aston Martin project. However, I know that everything takes a little time to come together. And that’s my only question mark.”
Fernando Alonso: Aston Martin fighting for the world championship is guaranteed
The former Scuderia Ferrari driver also expressed confidence in the Aston Martin team's ability to fight for the world championship. The two-time world champion detailed how this is a guarantee considering the team’s recent trajectory and overall structure.
"Aston Martin Aramco fighting for and winning the World Championship is more or less guaranteed in the future. We have everything that is needed to fight for a World Championship.”
“Then, to execute the job and to win it, you need some external factors as well: you need a little help from the competitors [with results not going their way]; you need a little bit of luck; you need to execute every weekend well. But let's say, in preparation for 2026, we have everything in place."
Since its return to
Formula 1 in 2021, the Aston Martin outfit has found successes far and few. Alonso, on his part, clinched multiple podium finishes with the team, particularly during the 2023 campaign. However, the team’s form appeared to have taken a dip since and last time out at the
Azerbaijan Grand Prix, both drivers failed to finish in the points.
