Fernando Alonso will race in the 2020 Indy500 after confirming his seat with Arrow McLaren on Tuesday evening. In the 104th event, the two-time Formula 1 world champion is hoping he can win the title and complete motorsport's triple crown.
Alonso has already won the F1 race of Monaco and also the 24 hours of Le Mans. Only the Indy 500 is still on his wish list. Things didn't go so well in previous years. The Spaniard did not appear at the start or did not qualify. The goal for this year is therefore clear.
"It sounds good. It's one of the most iconic races in the motorsport calendar and I'm happy to be competing in the month of May again. After last year we had some issues and it wasn't the race we were expecting. But this year we go again, with the aim to do well and to win the race," Alonso said.
