Fernando Alonso's
Formula 1 season is lacklustre compared to 2023. The
Aston Martin drivers, Alonso and
Lance Stroll, are P9 and P10 in the drivers' championship.
Aston Martin are in a bit of a no-man's land in the teams' Constructors' standings in P5. They are too far behind Mercedes, and but still ahead of

Alonso was asked about his frustrations. "No, I will not call it frustration. I think it's the nature of the sport. At the end of the day, we are not happy with our position, that's for sure. But in December, only one guy will be happy. Probably the second guy will be more frustrated than me in Abu Dhabi. The third guy and the fourth and things like that. So that's the nature of the sport," the Spaniard explained the situation to GPblog among others.
Alonso on his ambitions with Aston Martin
The
Belgian Grand Prix was won by
Lewis Hamilton after his teammate
George Russell was disqualified because his car was too light. Red Bull was originally strong at
Spa-Francorchamps. Prior to the Belgian GP, Alonso said that if Red Bull had won again at Spa, there might have been a very different image of the team so close to the summer break, but that was not so. In any case, Alonso wants to make a big move with Aston Martin soon.
"Maybe there is not as much competition [in Formula 1] as we think so let's see. But I'm enjoying the journey. We want to be champion. We want to be competitive next year and also take the big opportunity in 2026 and it's not time to be frustrated. It's time to to enjoy the process of becoming a big team," Alonso concluded.
