Fernando Alonso will start in P7 tomorrow after an impressive qualifying session for McLaren. The Spaniard is looking to continue his brilliant streak of points finishes in 2018 in the principality.
Alonso has scored points in every race so far, showing the consistency that has made him such a successful driver over the years.
McLaren struggled with Alonso’s car in practice, with Alonso saying his only good running was in FP2 on Thursday afternoon.
“It’s been a very complicated weekend,” he explained. “We lost the first session because of the brakes and in the third one the car was handling very strange.”
Alonso revealed that he was unsure on the setup for his car in qualifying: “We made a lot of changes to the car and we went out in qualifying like tossing a coin to see how the car would handle.

“We saw that it was a different car, that was handling better and giving me the confidence to attack. Seventh tastes very good now.”
Alonso’s weak point this season has been his qualifying pace, but on a track that is notoriously hard to overtake on, he has put himself in a good position for points tomorrow.
