Alex Albon is back on the
Formula 1 grid after a year on the sidelines. It wasn't always easy, but he's happy to have played a part in
Max Verstappen's world title.
In 2021, Albon was still present in the Formula One paddock, but not because he was a driver for a team. He became the coach of Yuki Tsunoda and also did simulator work for
Red Bull Racing. The former Red Bull driver additionally drove in the DTM where he finished the season in sixth place.
The year on the sidelines was not easy, as the
Williams driver would have loved to be on the grid. Despite the fact that it was really difficult at times, the driver did enjoy himself:
"At the same time, it was exciting to be part of Max's success story. I feel like I contributed a little bit to the success," he says at
Speedweek.
Back on the grid
Next season we will see Albon back on the
Formula 1 grid, as he has signed a contract with
Williams. Hopefully, he can team up with
Nicholas Latifi to score a lot of points for the British team.
