Marko quips about Lindblad's possible F1 debut with 'he is now allowed to drive in GP's as well' joke

Helmut Marko jokingly remarked that Arvid Lindblad might soon be involved in something more than just a few free practice sessions over the course of the season.
It once seemed unthinkable to see Arvid Lindblad behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car as early as this year, but the granting of an FIA super licence — combined with the ever-present threat of a race ban looming over Max Verstappen — has made the scenario far less unrealistic.
As is now well known, the governing body led by Ben Sulayem granted an exemption to the 17-year-old British driver, who is part of the Red Bull Junior Program, as “he recently and consistently demonstrated outstanding ability and maturity in single-seater formula car competition''.
This means that, if needed, the Milton Keynes-based team can now call upon his talent as well — in addition to their already known reserve drivers.

Lindblad to debut in F1 sooner than expected?

A few days ago, Lindblad took to the track for the first time behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car at Imola, driving a previous-season Racing Bulls. The Londoner is also expected to participate in some FP1 sessions during the year, but according to Helmut Marko, there might be even more in store for him.
“He is now allowed to drive in Grands Prix as well,” the Austrian advisor jokingly told Sky Deutschland when asked whether Lindblad would take part in FP1 sessions.
“Lindblad is only 17,” Marko then pointed out, his tone turning serious. ''He has been very fast in all racing classes. He is also mentally very strong and he is incredibly eager to learn.”
“We only had one reserve driver in Ayumu Iwasa, and he also has commitments in Super Formula. So it was important for us to have someone else. Lindblad has all the characteristics to become a really great driver.”
