Pole-sitter Valtteri Bottas finished third and beat his counterpart Sergio Perez in the Sao Paulo Grand Prix. The Finnish driver is disappointed with the strategy Mercedes selected and feels like he would've achieved a one-two with Lewis Hamilton with an alternative strategy.

Bottas on pole

Bottas lost the lead at the first corner of the race to Max Verstappen. He also lost track position to Perez at the start and imagined a frustrated team boss Toto Wolff. Bottas got lucky with a virtual safety car pit stop.

"The start was not a disaster but Max had a good start. We'll look at what happened. Max was ahead in turn one. Nowhere to go for me. Again, went wide defending Checo. For me, the first lap was a nightmare and I could imagine Toto banging his table. I KEPT pushing and I'm glad Lewis was in his own league today. When he got by me, he delivered and I'm glad we got more points than Red Bull," Bottas told Sky Sports

When Hamilton moved into the podium positions, the Finn played the team role and let the seven-time World Champion overtake to chase after Verstappen. But Bottas felt he could've got P2, as he mentioned on the team radio during the race.

"My feeling is a one-stop should've been faster because we went so long in the first stint. We'll have a look but it should've been one-two," Bottas added.
