Max Verstappen was aiming for nothing less than victory in Brazil, but the Red Bull Racing driver was realistic enough to allude to the damage limitation. He told Felipe Massa on the grid that he enjoyed the battle with Lewis Hamilton.

"We tried everything we could today of course. I think it was a good battle but of course at the end there we just missed a bit of pace there. We gave it all today and it was a lot of fun," said Verstappen.

He continued: "We still have a good points lead [14 points] so it was bit of damage limitation in a weekend that was a bit more difficult for us but I am confident that in the coming races we will bounce back," With three Grands Prix to go, the difference in the World Championship is 14 points in Verstappen's favour.
