Sergio Perez has found confidence in the Red Bull Racing car after the summer break, says team principal Christian Horner. The Mexican has been achieving the intended results and has finished on the podium in the last three Grands Prix.

Difficult start for Perez at Red Bull

Perez had a poor start at Red Bull as a teammate of Max Verstappen. While the Dutchman was directly competing for wins every weekend, Perez often struggled to keep up with the top three. The Mexican showed some improvement, but the results were still very inconsistent.

Now Checo is confident in the car Horner believes: "He has found his confidence in the car. It’s really come since after the summer break. I think his performances have got stronger and stronger, and so has his confidence," the Briton revealed according to Autosport.com.

Perez performs as desired

Perez is increasingly able to cover Verstappen's back or attack the Mercedes drivers himself. "He's driving very well and he's putting in exactly the kind of performance that we were hoping for," Horner continued.

Horner believes it is only natural that Perez had to adjust to a new car and environment after switching from Racing Point last winter. "It's just taken a while to dial into that, and he's managed to work it out," concludes the team boss.
