Perez enjoys GP in USA: 'It's great to see'

The United States Grand Prix starts this weekend. Where the Americans in the past hardly were interested in Formula 1, Sergio Perez notices that more and more people are enthusiastic when the race takes place.

The Mexican was in Dallas and Manhattan in recent days for a demonstration lap and noticed the energy of the crowd that gathered along the side. "It’s great to see that Formula 1 as a sport is growing a lot in the U.S.," Perez assessed in conversation with NBC Sports.

"You go on the streets and probably not many people recognize you like in other places in Europe or in Mexico, but it’s definitely getting more and more. Obviously if you are in Austin and there is a race there, lot of people and a lot of Americans are into Formula One. But I just kind of feel like the fans are just enjoying more the sport, and they get more into it."

Possibly a third race in the United States

A GP in Miami is also scheduled for next season. The FIA is reportedly considering allowing a third race in America in the future. Las Vegas or Indianapolis would be among the possibilities.
