It is a reunion for both Alpine drivers in Turkey. While Esteban Ocon was still on track last year, it was already ten years ago for Fernando Alonso. Both drivers want to continue their excellent form at a track they both have only good memories of.

Alonso played a big role in Sochi, as he could have been on the podium again if it hadn't been for the rain. He hopes that the good memories of Istanbul Park will allow him to take another victory or podium.

"I have good memories of the Turkish Grand Prix. It's a circuit with a good mix of fast corners and overtaking opportunities. Turn eight is a unique challenge and I can't wait to take it in a modern Formula 1 car. I had a great fight with Michael Schumacher there in 2006", the 40-year old driver tells Formulapassion.it.

Ocon also happy with the reunion

Furthermore, the Spanish Alpine driver stressed that they need to maintain consistent results so that they can score even more points for the team. Esteban Ocon completely concurs with this and, like Alonso, is very much looking forward to going back to Turkey.

"I like Istanbul Park because it's a very nice circuit. Last year I raced there for the first time, like many other drivers on the grid, and it certainly lived up to expectations. When it was announced that we would race in Turkey again I was very happy, because I feel I can still improve on that.

Ocon also admits that he is particularly curious to see what the tarmac will be like this year, after it was extremely difficult to find grip last year due to it being resurfaced. "When the track started to get rubber it was raining on Saturday and those were probably the hardest conditions I've ever driven in." He is therefore keen to get a good result this weekend when the conditions are a little better.
