Valtteri Bottas has signed up for the upcoming 2022 edition of Race of Champions (ROC). This edition will be held in Sweden on snow and ice terrain. ROC is an international motorsport event where drivers from different motorsport disciplines race against each other in identical cars.

Experience with Arctic Rally

The event will take place in February 2022 and will be held on the frozen Baltic Sea at Pite Havsbad in Sweden. It is the first time Bottas will compete in the event. "I'm really looking forward to finally being able to participate in the Race of Champions, after watching the event on TV for many years," Bottas said at Racer.com. "The fact that the event will be run on snow and ice this year makes it even more interesting."

Bottas previously competed in the Arctic Rally. "Hopefully that experience will help if we want to beat the strong competition," he said. The likes of Tom Kristensen, Sebastien Loeb, Petter Solberg and Travis Pastrana have also already registered for the event.

Pleased with Bottas' participation

ROC president Fredrik Johnasson is very happy with Bottas' participation in the event. "Valtteri has been telling us for several years that he would like to participate in the Race of Champions and we are very happy that he can finally make his ROC debut in our first ROC world final on snow and ice."

The Race of Champions was first held in 1988 and takes place in a different location each edition. Previous winners include David Coulthard, Juan Pablo Montoya, Sebastian Vettel, Romain Grosjean, Heikki Kovalainen and Carlos Sainz senior.
