Two Mercedes teams already seemed to have problems on Friday. Sebastian Vettel's Aston Martin stalled early in the first free practice, while Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes stalled in the second free practice.

Hamilton after one GP with new engine

According to Motorsport.com Netherlands Mercedes told the customer teams that it is wise to use the engines in Zandvoort that have done the least amount of kilometres in this season. For some teams, this will not be a problem because it was already the plan to put in a new engine from Saturday.

However, there are also teams who didn't plan to do this. They are now forced to use new, or at least the latest, engines for the rest of the weekend at Zandvoort. Hamilton is one of these drivers, as he was only supposed to use this engine for the Monza weekend.

Not many changes for most

Valtteri Bottas, Daniel Ricciardo, Lance Stroll and Nicholas Latifi had a new engine fitted to their car last week in Belgium and will run with it for the rest of Zandvoort. Lando Norris had also put a new engine in his car in Belgium, but it has not yet been returned to service after his heavy crash at Spa-Francorchamps.
