Surprising face makes F1 test debut with Alfa Romeo

Yesterday, talented Formula 2 driver Theo Pourchaire took part in the two-day Pirelli test with Alfa Romeo at the Hungaroring. Now it appears that another surprising driver was present for the team.

Former Formula 2 driver Mahaveer Raghunathan also drove a Formula 1 car for the first time this week during the private test at the Hungaroring, reports Formulascout.com.

The driver got quite a reputation in his F2 period, as it was felt that he was far below the level of his competitors. He was subsequently banned from racing and only scored one point in 20 races. Since then he has not been active in motorsport.

2022 seat at Alfa Romeo

During the test, he drove next to Pourchaire, but Raghunathan was 1.9 seconds slower than the Frenchman, who is eligible for the Alfa Romeo seat next year. Guanyu Zhou has also been mentioned as a contender.

Later this year there will most likely be another test at the Yas Marina Circuit, so maybe Raghunathan and Pourchaire might get the chance to drive the Alfa Romeo again.
