Charles Leclerc expects Ferrari to struggle in the French Grand Prix. Although the Italian team have performed extremely well on the track in recent weeks, the driver knows there are still some steps to be taken in order to compete at the front.

Leclerc seemed to start from pole position during the Monaco GP, but nothing was further from the truth. The Ferrari driver crashed his car into the wall during qualifying and was unable to start the race a day later. The driver was obviously disappointed not to be able to start his home race, but two weeks later he made amends.

It was not Max Verstappen or Lewis Hamilton who were allowed to start the race from the front in Baku, as Leclerc was once again the lucky one. The 23-year old driver said during the press conference on Thursday that Ferrari had little chance, but surprised himself. "I hope I'm wrong again with my estimate," he told Motorsport-total.com at the press conference in France.

Improvements for Ferrari

He is aware that Ferrari is on the right track, but is not yet where it wants to be. "Where we fall short at the moment is in the medium-high-speed corners. But it's about the total package," Leclerc said.
