McLaren expands its portfolio. In addition to Formula 1, IndyCar was added from 2020. On Friday, the team announced that they will also be present in Extreme E from 2022. CEO Zak Brown says this may not be everything.

McLaren expands portfolio

Brown is in fact interested in Formula E, which McLaren already have an agreement with so they can be on the grid from 2022 if the team wants to. Besides Formula E, the World Endurance Championship remains an interesting option for the team from Woking.

"We’ve not taken any final decisions on that yet," Brown said to Motorsport.com about participating in Formula E. "Our option goes until the end of the year. We want to get this [Extreme E] announcement out there and see what activity it creates with our fans and in the marketplace."

WEC and Formula E still interesting for McLaren

"So WEC and Formula E remain under review, and we anticipate having some direction on both of those later in the year. All the different racing series have different attributes, different reasons and rationale as to why they may or may not fit within the McLaren Racing portfolio," Brown revealed.

McLaren's IndyCar adventure has been a success so far. Driver Pato O'Ward took his first win for the team in Texas and is still in the championship.
