Formula 1 tries hard to keep the sport exciting. With the sprint races for example it hopes to create more sensation in the weekend, which will make the new generation more interested in the sport.

Alfa Romeo team boss Frederic Vasseur thinks Formula 1 is doing well. "It's still 100 per cent about the sporting level," Vasseur judged in conversation with Motorsport.com. "It's not like we're introducing a lottery to determine the grid. All results are still based on pure speed: on a qualifying that determines the starting order for the sprint race. Just like in Macau. And the result of that determines the grid for the race. It's all about performance."

Vasseur is therefore positive about the changes. "If we can improve the show but the end result is still determined by speed, I think it's good. And also the approach. It's good to say in 2021, 'Let's try it this season, then in the future, we'll make a decision on it'. Before then it's difficult to form a good picture."

Monaco GP

At the Monaco Grand Prix, Alfa Romeo performed as it should. Antonio Giovinazzi drove into the points during the race by securing a tenth place finish, while Kimi Raikkönen just missed out on the points with an eleventh place finish.
