Member of Perez's security shot after attempted robbery at home in Mexico

An attempted robbery has taken place at the home of Sergio Perez's family in Mexico. A bodyguard was shot, the Red Bull Racing driver confirmed after qualifying for the Monaco GP.

Local media reported earlier on Saturday in Mexico that someone from the family's security was injured. The attempted robbery took place in the Ladrón de Guevara neighbourhood in the municipality of Guadalajara.

Not in critical condition

Perez said he was very relieved. The Race Perez states to be very relieved that the member of the security team is in a 'good condition' after being hit by a bullet. The police were quickly on the scene and managed to arrest the robbers.

"They hurt one of my security guys with one shot. They basically tried to rob the car. They basically tried to rob the car. Nothing else going on, he's in good condition. And the police got the robbers," Perez said.
