The combination of driver and race engineer is crucial in Formula 1. For Max Verstappen this is Gianpiero Lambiase, who has been his race engineer since he switched from Toro Rosso to Red Bull Racing. Verstappen has been explaining how important Lambiase is to him.

In an interview with Dutch Formula 1 Magazine, Verstappen said that he has a lot of contact with Lambiase and that they have a strong bond. They feel each other perfectly and know what they want from each other.

"He is very passionate, driven and wants to win. I think that is very important: you not only have to be driven to be in Formula 1, but you also have to enjoy being there," said Verstappen.

Jos Verstappen agreed with his son. "Gianpiero is very driven and busy with his work 24 hours a day," said Verstappen. This is necessary because Max Verstappen wants to see the same level of commitment from everyone as he gives during racing: one hundred percent.
