Just moments before the official unveiling of Williams' FW43-B, the team was hacked and the augmented reality surprise ruined. In a video posted on Twitter, George Russell now shows how the new car was to have been presented to the Formula 1 viewing public.

The FW43-B was planned to be projected into the living rooms of race fans around the world via an augmented reality app. However, when the app was hacked and the images put online shortly before the kick-off, Williams had no choice but to take the app down and publish the images themselves.

In a video posted on the Twitter account of Williams racer George Russell, it is now clear what the reveal should have looked like. Russell shows how the app would have built the car layer by layer, ending with the retro design of the FW43-B.

Interesting season

Regardless of the messy reveal of the new car, it will be an interesting season for the Grove-based team. Not only has it been under new leadership from Dorilton Capital since this year, but it has also forged closer links with Mercedes in the hope of properly returning to the midfield this year.
